France counts 33 Palace hotels in its 2026 selection, unveiled on 2 June 2026. Six hotels joined the list and 27 kept their title.
How the title is granted
The Palace distinction is granted by the State for three years. Atout France, the national tourism development agency, examines each application before a Palace commission gives its opinion.
The six new Palaces
- Bvlgari Hotel Paris - Cheval Blanc Paris - Fouquet's Paris - Four Seasons Resort Megève - Hôtel Martinez, Cannes - Royal Champagne Hôtel & Spa, Champillon
Where the Palaces are
Paris alone holds 13 of the 33, or about 39%. The Côte d'Azur and the South-East count nine, the Alps seven, the South-West two, the East one and the overseas territories one. Paris, the Riviera and the Alps together hold 29 Palaces, close to nine in ten.
The signal
The title is reaching beyond its historic strongholds, to Champagne and the Croisette. It remains the clearest marker of the top tier in France, and one that guests and agencies recognise abroad. For five-star hotels preparing a renovation, it is also a target that shapes the scope of the works.
Congratulations to the six newcomers and their teams.
