Hilton announced on 21 October that Hilton Honors members can now use their points to pay eligible hotel charges when they check out digitally in the Hilton Honors app.
Who can use it, and where
The feature is open to members with Silver, Gold, Diamond or Diamond Reserve status. It starts in 150 participating hotels in the United States. Hilton expects more than 800 hotels by the end of 2026, and a full rollout to more than 6,000 participating properties in the United States and Canada in early 2027.
Brad Anderson, vice president of Hilton Honors, presented the launch with a short line: "Loyalty is personal."
What changes for guests
Until now, points were mostly a way to pay for the room itself. With this feature, guests can settle eligible charges on their bill with points at the moment they leave, without going to the front desk. The release does not list every eligible charge in detail.
The signal
Loyalty points are turning into a payment method. For a hotel, that changes how restaurant, bar and spa revenue is settled, and raises a practical question for owners and operators: how points spent on site are reimbursed by the brand. Luxury properties in Europe will watch whether the feature crosses the Atlantic, and on what terms.
